How do I apply to NAAC Shows?

1.) When the applications are open, we will post a link here to the full prospectus. (Always read the whole prospectus before applying to shows.)

2.) Unless otherwise specified in the call, all entries to our shows are processed at CaFÉ (callforentry.org)

3.) Go to CaFÉ (callforentry.org) and register, so you can apply to the show.

4.) Find the call for the show you want to apply to (i.e. Real People or Women's Works, etc.) on the CaFÉ web site (They are listed by us, the Northwest Area Arts Council).

5.) Follow CaFÉ's on-line instructions to apply.

6.) Pay you entry fee on-line through CaFÉ...or

7.) Mail your check for payment in full (see the next drop-down for instructions on how to pay by mail).

NOTE: The deadline for all complete entries with received payments (no entry will be considered if the payment is not received on-time.) will be posted with each call. All complete entries must be received on time - no exceptions. NAAC is not responsible for late entries, so it is generally a good idea to apply early to insure your application and payment are received on time.

How do I pay for my entry?

We accept on-line payments (the easiest) through CaFÉ. Or...

We also accept checks sent by mail.

ALL CHECKS MUST BE MADE OUT TO: NAAC

(the Northwest Area Arts Council goes by NAAC)

CHECKS ARE NOT ACCEPTED IF THEY ARE MADE OUT TO THE GALLERY, THE SHOW'S NAME (i.e. Real People, Women's Works, etc.) OR ANY OTHER DESIGNATION. THEY MUST BE MADE OUT TO "NAAC."

All Checks must be received by the deadline. NAAC is not responsible for checks that arrive late.

All Checks must be mailed to:

Old Court House Arts Center

ATTN: "THE SHOW NAME" (Real People or Women's Works, etc.)

101 N. Johnson St.

Woodstock, IL 60098

Once I pay, what happens next?

The deadlines for entries varies.

After the call is closed, the jurors will deliberate and choose the artwork for the show.

This process usually takes around two weeks.

Once the jurying is completed, all artists who applied will be notified, whether or not their artwork has been accepted.

When will you let me know if my artwork has been accepted or not?

Notifications are sent to all artists who apply to a call. This is done through CaFÉ, so you need to check your account for the messages from NAAC. It generally takes a few weeks for the jury to deliberate, after the closing deadline. We post the notification date, once the show call is open, so you have an idea of when to expect you message from NAAC.

My artwork was accepted...What now?

Your accepted artwork must be prepared for "hanging," and dropped off at the gallery, or shipped to the gallery.

Because this is a juried show, you must send the artwork that was accepted by the jury. NO SUBSTITUTIONS!

Be sure your name (the name you entered in CaFÉ) and the title of the piece is printed somewhere on your piece (artwork signatures are not always easily read). One easy way to do this is with a business card or piece of paper with your name, add the title (TYPED/PRINTED) and attach it to the back or bottom of your piece.

What do you mean by "prepared for hanging?"

This means artwork that hangs on the wall must have an appropriate wire hanger, heavy enough to hold the weight of the piece. We do not accept artwork with cardboard, or sawtooth hangers.

Unacceptable Hangers

Hangers should be stronger, eyelets and wire are a good choice...

Acceptable Wire and Eyelet Hangers

Likewise, 3-D works that stand alone, must be steady enough to stand on their own, or have an appropriate stand provided with the piece. If you have special hanging/standing specifications, you will need to provide them with the piece at drop-off, or in the shipping package with the artwork.

What if I don't want to spend the money on shipping?

You can drop off your accepted artwork during GALLERY HOURS only. Please note: if you do plan to drop off your work, the gallery has several steps that must be climbed. As this picture shows, there is no elevator or special apparatus for hauling things up the stairs. The gallery does not have anyone who can assist with this. So, if you need help carrying the artwork up to the gallery, please be sure to bring help with you. If you have further questions about drop-off, please see our Contact Page.
